The Video Quality Case
Arlo Pro 4’s 2K HDR footage is noticeably better than the 1080p cameras it replaced. During a package theft investigation in our neighborhood, a neighbor’s 1080p footage was unusable for identifying the vehicle. Our Arlo footage captured a license plate at 30 feet in daylight clearly enough for law enforcement to make an identification.
What We Like
- 2K HDR video is genuinely excellent clarity
- Color night vision is better than competitors
- Truly wireless — no power cable runs
- 180-day battery life on standard settings (real, tested)
What We Don’t
- Arlo Secure subscription required for most features
- Hardware cost ($200+ per camera) is high
- Mounting base stripped on one camera at 4 months
- App notifications are occasionally delayed
