I own 11 Ryobi tools on one battery platform. For a homeowner who uses tools monthly, this is the right answer.

The Platform Argument

The right way to evaluate Ryobi is as a platform, not as individual tools. I own a drill/driver, circular saw, reciprocating saw, jigsaw, orbital sander, leaf blower, string trimmer, inflator, worklight, shop vac, and radio — all on the same 18V ONE+ battery. Total investment: approximately $680 with 4 batteries and a charger, bought strategically with Home Depot sales and bundle deals.

What We Like

  • One battery platform across 300+ tools
  • Tool-only pricing when you have batteries is excellent
  • Good enough for anything a homeowner actually does
  • Widely available at Home Depot

What We Don’t

  • Performance gap vs Milwaukee/DeWalt is real under heavy use
  • Plastic construction feels lighter than pro tools
  • Battery life shorter than comparable pro batteries
Owner’s Note

11 tools, 4 batteries, 30 months. I’ve replaced two batteries. No tool failures.

Owned for 30 months before this review was published.

The Bottom Line

Best value cordless tool system for homeowners. If you use tools professionally, step up to Milwaukee or DeWalt.
