The FlexVolt Test
DeWalt’s FlexVolt system uses 60V batteries that allow their larger tools to match the sustained power of corded tools. We tested this claim by ripping 2×10 pressure-treated lumber — the most demanding residential cut use case — repeatedly over an afternoon. The saw did not bog down or slow noticeably compared to a corded worm drive saw in the same application.
What We Like
- FlexVolt battery legitimately matches corded saw through-cuts
- Electric brake stops blade immediately on trigger release
- Bevel cuts to 57° without blade guard removal
- LED work light positions correctly
What We Don’t
- FlexVolt batteries are expensive individually
- Heavier than corded equivalent
- Dust port direction requires adapter for most shop vacs
