A family of five goes through a refrigerator like a commercial kitchen. Two years in, one service call, one recall repair, still running.

Daily Life

As a family of five, our refrigerator works hard. Full capacity, frequent opening, a teenager who treats it like a walk-in. The GE Profile has handled the volume without complaint. Temperature consistency is genuinely good — we’ve measured spot checks with a thermometer and the fridge holds 37-38°F throughout.

The door-in-door feature on the right side — a pull-out panel with its own shelves — has become one of those things we’d miss deeply on the next fridge. Drinks, condiments, frequently-accessed items all live there.

What We Like

  • Storage capacity is excellent — fits full Costco runs
  • Temperature consistency is very good
  • Ice maker produces quickly
  • Door-in-door feature is used constantly

What We Don’t

  • Ice maker water line required service at 14 months
  • Subject to a recall on the freezer drawer at 18 months
  • Drawer glides on crispers feel cheap
  • Compressor runs audibly at night
Owner’s Note

Two issues in two years isn’t catastrophic but it isn’t confidence-inspiring either.

Owned for 24 months before this review was published.

The Bottom Line

Good refrigerator with an unremarkable reliability record. We’d look harder at LG or Samsung at this price point next time.
