We tested the Toto Washlet, the Brondell Swash, and the Bio Bidet Slim One. After 14 months, two are in boxes.
The Comparison
We installed all three seats over a 3-month period. The Bio Bidet Slim One had the weakest water pressure of the three and its dryer function was insufficient. It lasted 6 weeks before we switched. The Brondell Swash 1400 was good — solid pressure, reliable temperature control — but its seat heating took 45 seconds to warm from cold versus the Washlet’s 8 seconds. The Toto Washlet C5 won on every dimension except price, which is real but survivable.
What We Like
- Toto Washlet temperature control is precise and fast
- Rear and front wash pressure are independently adjustable
- Seat warming is genuinely pleasant and not gimmicky
- Remote is intuitive after 3 days
What We Don’t
- $600+ for a toilet seat is psychologically difficult
- Requires GFCI outlet near toilet — may need electrician
- Nozzle cleaning reminder is more frequent than necessary
I cannot explain in a review how quickly this becomes the thing you miss most when staying in hotels.

The Bottom Line
The Toto Washlet C5 is the one to buy. The Brondell and Bio Bidet are in boxes.
