The Silverado’s engine is excellent and the ride is best-in-class. Then you try to use the infotainment system.
The Case For and Against
No truck rides as smoothly as the Silverado. The independent rear suspension — unique to GM in this segment — absorbs rough roads in a way the F-150 and Ram simply don’t match. On long highway drives, it’s the most comfortable.
Then you try to connect your phone, and the MyLink system lags, drops connections, and occasionally requires a reboot. It doesn’t ruin the truck. But at $55,000, you expect better software.
What We Like
- Smoothest riding half-ton truck available
- 5.3L V8 is refined and powerful
- Excellent towing capability at 9,500 lbs
- Best-in-class rear seat legroom
What We Don’t
- Infotainment (MyLink) is a consistent frustration
- Interior quality doesn’t match the price
- Had one warranty electrical issue at 14 months
- GM’s dealer service experience is inconsistent
I genuinely love driving this truck. I genuinely hate the screen. GM needs to buy software talent.
